Shop With A Cop

The Optimist Club of Frederick Elected Club Officers

The Optimist Club of Frederick recently installed their 2019-2020 club officers.

Chartered in March 1947 the Frederick Optimist Club is Maryland's second oldest optimist club. We are based in the City of Frederick, and work as a "Friend of Youth.”

Our next program is our Frederick Optimist Club’s 13th annual “Shop with a Cop” program. This is a program designed to team deserving children in Frederick County with a local police officer. The youth are treated to a $100 shopping trip at Walmart for their families and experience an opportunity to interact with the police officer in a personal and positive manner.

On December 7, 2019 thirty-five elementary school children will be escorted on their Christmas adventure by officers from the Frederick City Police, Maryland State Troopers, Sheriff Deputies, Thurmont and Brunswick Police Departments.

In addition, during Youth Appreciation Week, the Frederick Optimist Club recognizes that the majority of today's youth are ascending as our next outstanding citizens. Scholarships are award in February. Check your schools for more information.

So, who are the Frederick Optimist Club and what do we do? The answer is quite easy, there are numerous activities that need sponsorship and the "Friend of Youth" - Frederick Optimist Club is here to help the youths to be recognized, encouraged and applauded.

Check out our website for ongoing activities here in Frederick and talk to an Optimist to see how you can be a part in our community and promote our youth’s development.
