Winners of the Talent Competition
The Optimist Club of Frederick held their 32nd Annual Youth Talent Competition of the Performing Arts on March 24, 2018 at Governor Thomas Johnson High School.
- Avery Meinke, winner in the Vocal category, is 13 years old and in the 8th grade at Ballenger Creel Middle School
- Shelby Gibb, winner in the Dramatic Monologue category, is 13 years old and in the 7th grade at Crestwood Middle School
- Olivia Jane Wilkison, winner in the Dance category, is 12 years old and in the 7th grade at Banner School
- Ethan Zumbrun, winner in the Other Instrument category, is 13 years old and is in the 7th grade at Middletown Middle School.
- Sophie Frizzell, is our Grand Prize winner from the String category, she is 13 years old and is in the 8th grade at the Frederick Classical Charter School.
We continued this year with our “People’s Choice Award.” Nicolina Stine from the Dance category was presented with a trophy as this year’s winner. Post-show entertainment was provided by last year’s Grand Prize winner JoAnnie Shia performing “Etude-Tableau Op. 33 No . in G Minor” by Rachmaninoff.
